Is it art or is it geometry?

I thought I had some hemp but it turns out I don't. I am impatiently waiting until I can get some because I think this could be a really interesting and easy thing to make. And I *love* making interesting and easy things! I make them over and over and over again and it gives me All The Joy. I'm not sure the pattern would work as well with silk but I might end up using some other kind of yarn. Still pondering on it.
