This Shipping Policy explains how shipping works when you place an order with Darn Good Yarn, Inc. (“Darn Good Yarn,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). If you have questions, contact Customer Service at info@darngoodyarn.com or call 518-831-1703.
1) Where We Ship From
We ship from fulfillment locations in Beaufort, South Carolina (USA) and New York (USA). Depending on inventory availability, your order may ship from one or both locations. This can result in split shipments and multiple tracking numbers.
2) Processing Time (Before Shipment)
Most orders ship within up to 4 business days (excluding weekends and holidays), unless otherwise noted on the product page, during peak periods, or due to unforeseen operational constraints. “Processing time” is the time it takes us to pick, pack, and hand off your order to the carrier. It is separate from the carrier’s transit time.
3) Carriers & Shipping Methods
We ship using major carriers, including USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL, and sometimes regional or international partners depending on destination and service level. The carrier and service used may vary based on package size, destination, and the shipping option you select at checkout.
4) Shipping Rates & Expedited Options
Shipping options and costs are displayed at checkout based on your delivery address and cart contents. Expedited shipping may be available for an additional fee. If you choose an expedited method, please note that expedited shipping typically affects transit time (carrier delivery speed) and does not guarantee same-day or next-day processing.
5) PO Boxes, APO/FPO/DPO
We ship to PO Boxes and to APO/FPO/DPO addresses where available through the carrier network. Some expedited services may not be available for these destinations.
6) Tracking
When your order ships, we typically send a shipping confirmation email (and/or SMS, if you opted in) with tracking information. Tracking updates are provided by the carrier and may take 24–48 hours to appear after the label is created. If your order ships in multiple packages, you may receive multiple tracking numbers.
7) Delivery Estimates
Delivery dates shown at checkout (or elsewhere on the site) are estimates and are not guaranteed. Carrier delays may occur due to weather, holidays, customs processing, high shipping volume, or other reasons outside our control.
8) Address Accuracy & Returned Packages
Please double-check your shipping address before placing your order. You are responsible for providing a complete and accurate delivery address. If a package is returned to us due to an incorrect/incomplete address, refusal of delivery, failure to pick up from a carrier access point, or similar reasons, we may (at our discretion) reship the package at your expense or issue store credit minus any shipping/handling costs incurred, to the extent permitted by law.
9) Backorders & Preorders
If an item is backordered, preorder, or has a longer lead time, we will typically note this on the product page. If an item becomes unexpectedly unavailable, we may contact you with options (such as waiting, substitution where appropriate, partial shipment, or cancellation/refund for the unavailable item).
10) Lost, Stolen, or Damaged Packages
Once a package is handed to the carrier, delivery is managed by the carrier. If your package is marked “delivered” but you cannot locate it, we recommend: (1) checking around your property and with neighbors/building staff; (2) verifying the shipping address on your order confirmation; and (3) contacting the carrier directly.
If your package arrives damaged, please take photos of (a) the outer packaging, (b) the shipping label, and (c) the damaged item(s), and contact us at info@darngoodyarn.com as soon as possible so we can help.
11) Shipping Protection (If Offered)
We may offer optional shipping protection through a third-party provider (for example, through Redo). If you purchase shipping protection, claims for covered loss, damage, or theft are handled according to the provider’s terms and claim process. Darn Good Yarn is not the insurer and does not control coverage determinations made by the protection provider.
12) International Shipping, Duties & Taxes
We accept international orders; however, international shipping availability varies by destination. International shipments may be subject to customs inspection and processing, which can delay delivery.
Duties/Taxes: For international shipments, you are responsible for any customs duties, VAT, import taxes, brokerage fees, and similar charges. We do not ship on a Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) basis unless explicitly stated. Customs policies vary widely; please contact your local customs office for details.
13) International Returns
We accept international returns under the same general return window stated in our return policy, unless an item is marked Final Sale. Please note that international return shipping costs, duties, and taxes are generally not refundable and may be your responsibility unless otherwise required by law or where we have made a verified shipping error.
14) Restricted Destinations
We do not ship to certain countries, including (as of the date above) Russia, Belarus, North Korea, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Brazil, Venezuela, and Cuba. We may add or change restricted destinations from time to time at our discretion due to legal, carrier, fraud, or operational constraints.
15) Fraud Prevention & Order Holds
For your protection and ours, we may place an order on hold or cancel an order if our systems flag it for possible fraud or unauthorized activity. In some cases, we may contact you to confirm details before shipment.
