The Basket Stitch

Size: 6"x6"

Gauge: Stockinette | 4x4 in DC = 12 Stitches | 8 Rows

Yarn: 16g or 23yds of DGY Worsted Weight Recycled Silk

Crochet Hook Size: 5.0mm (or size to achieve gauge)

Abbreviations:

CH - Chain

Double V - In same space, 2DC, CH 1, 2DC

V stitch - In same space DC, CH 1, DC

DC2tog - Double Crochet Two Together

Sk - Skip

Chsp - chain space

Pattern:

CH 25
Row 1: In 5th CH from the hook, V stitch, *sk 2, V stitch* repeat across to last 2 chains, sk 1, DC in final chain. Turn.
Row 2: CH 3. Working into the chsp, Double V, CH 1, sk next V *Double V into chsp, CH 1, sk next V* repeat until last V, working in chsp, 2DC, CH 1, 1DC, DC2tog in final V and top of turning chain. Turn.
Row 3: CH 3, work a V stitch into each chsp to end, DC into top of turning chain. Turn.
Row 4: CH 3, 1DC into the same stitch * CH 1, sk next V at, work Double V at into chsp of the next V; repeat from * until 1 V at remains, CH 1, sk V st, 2 DC into top of turning ch. Turn.
Row 5: CH 3, work a V stitch into each chsp to end, DC into top of turning chain. Turn.
Repeat rows 2-5 twice. Bind off.
