Create your own little alien buddy using the special powers of crochet! This pattern is beginner-friendly and only takes a few pieces of crochet work and sewing together to complete.

Materials Needed:

  • Sport Weight Yarn (2) in Light Green (Head & Body)
  • Sport Weight Yarn (2) in Black (Eyes)
  • Medium Weight Yarn (4) in Light Brown (Wrap)
  • Size D/3.25mm Crochet Hook
  • Stuffing for filling
  • Craft Scissors for trimming ends
  • Yarn needle: to work in loose ends/tails
  • Stitch Markers: to keep track of your stitch count.

Abbreviations:

  • sl st: slip stitch
  • sc: single crochet
  • ch: chain
  • sct2tog: single crochet two stitches together
  • blo: back loop only
  • dc: double crochet
  • st: stitch
  • sts: stitches

Helpful Tips:

  • Use a stitch marker to mark either the first or last stitch of each round when working in a round
  • Instructions like “2sc” mean “2 single crochet stitches in the same stitch of the previous round”
  • Turning chains between rows for the wrap do not count as stitches

Let's Get Started:

Step 1: The Head & The Body

  • In light green yarn, 6 sc in magic circle
  • ROUND 1: 2sc <12 sts>
  • ROUND 2: *sc, 2sc**, repeat from * to ** until end of round <18 sts>
  • ROUND 3: *sc, sc, 2sc**, repeat from * to ** until end of round <24 sts>
  • ROUNDS 4 - 7: sc <24 sts>
  • ROUND 8: *sc, sc, sc2tog**, repeat from * to ** for rest of round <18 sts>
  • ROUNDS 7 - 8: sc <18 sts>
  • ROUND 9: *sc, sc2tog**, repeat from * to ** for rest of round <12 sts>
  • STUFF HEAD
  • ROUND 10: *in blo (sc, sc2tog)**, repeat from * to ** for rest of round <8 sts>
  • ROUNDS 11 - 13: sc <8 sts>
  • ROUND 14: *sc, 2sc**, repeat from * to ** until end of round <12 sts>
  • ROUND 15: sc <12 sts>
  • ROUND 16: *sc, sc, 2sc**, repeat from * to ** until end of round <16 sts>
  • ROUNDS 17 - 24: sc <16 sts>
  • ROUND 25: *sc, sc, sc2tog**, repeat from * to ** for rest of round <12 sts>
  • ROUND 26: sc2tog for entire round <6 sts>
  • STUFF BODY
  • Bind off, leave long tail for sewing, and trim
  • Weave tail through top of stitches of last round, pull tail tight to cinch bottom
  • Bind off, weave in end, and trim

Step 2: The Ears (Make Two)

  • In light green yarn, 6 sc in magic circle
  • ROUNDS 1 - 3: sc <6 sts>
  • ROUND 4: *sc, sc, 2sc**, repeat from * to ** until end of round <8 sts>
  • ROUND 5: sc <8 sts>
  • ROUND 6:  * sc, 2sc**, repeat from * to ** until end of round <12 sts>
  • ROUNDS 7 - 11: sc <12 sts>
  • Curl up inner ear by skipping first 2 st of previous row then sl st into 3rd st
  • Bind off, leave long tail for sewing, and trim

Step 3: The Eyes! (Make Two)

  • In black yarn, 6 sc in magic circle
  • Pull tight, bind off, leave tail for sewing, and trim

Step 4: The Wrap & Body

  • In light brown yarn, ch 28
  • ROW 1: dc in 3rd ch from hook, dc across row, ch 1 turning ch, turn <26 sts>
  • ROW 2:  dc across row, ch 1 turning ch, turn <26 sts>
  • ROWS 3 - 6: dc across row, ch 1 turning ch, turn <26 sts>
  • ROW 7: dc across row, sl st to bind off,  leave long tail for sewing together
  • Fold down last 2 rows to form a collar
  • Place edge of wrap (side without tail) around body, then wrap opposite edge of blanket over top to fit around the body (making sure to keep the rows that form the collar folded down)
  • Sew down the overlapped sides of wrap until you reach the bottom edge, bind off, weave in tail, and trim

Finishing Touches

  • Sew the ears to either side of the head, weave in tails, and trim ends
  • Sew the eyes to the front of the face, weave in tails, and trim ends
  • Weave in and trim all remaining ends
  • Get your intergalactic cutie cozy in their wrap and enjoy!
