Mysterious Crochet Mask

Do you need a quick mask for a Halloween costume…or for some late night yarn snatching? Follow along with this tutorial and you will be ready to go in no time! 

Materials


1 cake of worsted weight silk yarn - in any colorway
H / 8 / 5.00 mm crochet hook
Yarn needle
Scissors

Notes


Finished length: 7 inches without the ties, 26 with the ties
You can adjust the length of the ties by adding more chains. 5 chains equals 1 inch.
You can add to your mask to make it special! Add fringe to the bottom or crochet yourself some animal ears and sew them to your mask to make it unique!

Abbreviations


CO: Cast on
CH(s): Chain(s) 
SK: Skip
SC: Single crochet
HDC: Half double crochet 
BO: Bind off
SLST: Slip stitch 

Let’s Get Going!


Row 1: Co and ch 25
Row 2: Sk the first ch, sc in the 2nd ch from the hook. Sc the row 
Row 3-4 : Ch 1 and turn. Sc the row.
Row 4: Turn and sc into the first 2 sts. Ch 9. Sk 9 sts, and make 3 sc into the next 3 sts. Ch 9, sk 9 sts, sc the last 2 sts.
Row 5: Ch 1 and 2 sc into the sts. Into the eye hole, make 14 hdc. Make 3 sc at the nose of the mask before making another 15 hdc into the 2nd eye hole. Sc the last st and turn.
Row 6: Ch 1 and sc the row. Bo and weave in your ends.

Make The Mask Ties


Slst into the side of the mask at the top and ch 45 and tie off. Repeat on the same side of the mask, but lower on the side. Repeat on the other side of the mask. Weave in your ends and you’re all set!
