Cowl:

Step 21: ch 8 and slip st onto the sc st of the opposite side of the scarf end (pointy end of the triangle). Move yarn to the back of your work.

Now you will begin working across the horizontal portion of the triangle to create your cowl. Sc into the gaps and st – you should have approximately 60 sc st before you finish crocheting the foundation ch we added.

Note: **It doesn’t really matter so much where you place a sc as long as you don’t add too many sc that it puffs the row up or sc too few st that the st on the row are stretched/pulled too tightly. On the bigger gaps, I did 2 sc and on the smaller gaps I did 1 sc into them (not even sc into a st but rather the actual gap). Also, do not worry too much about how many st you have, as long as your stitch count is a multiple of 3.

Step 22: When you reach the beginning of where you started when you first began sc in the previous row (pointy end of the triangle / otherwise known as the point where you slip st into it), hdc into each st for the e]ntire row. If needed, place a stitch marker at that part if it helps you remember. When you reach your stitch marker, slip st into the next st.

*Step 23: ch 1. hdc into first st, ch 1, skip following st, hdc into next st. repeat until the end of the row. Slip st into the stitch holding the stitch marker. Replace stitch marker into new st.

Step 24: ch 1, hdc into each st until the end of the row. Slip st into the stitch holding the stitch marker. Replace stitch marker into new st.

Step 25: ch 1, hdc into each st until the end of the row. Slip st into the stitch holding the stitch marker. Replace stitch marker into new st.

*Step 26: ch 1. Hdc into first st, ch 1, skip following st, hdc into next st. repeat until the end of the row. Slip st into the stitch holding the stitch marker. Replace stitch marker into new st

Step 27: ch 1, hdc into each st until the end of the row. Slip st into the stitch holding the stitch marker. Replace stitch marker into new st

Step 28: ch 1, hdc into each st until the end of the row. Slip st into the stitch holding the stitch marker. Replace stitch marker into new st

Step 29: ch 1, dc into each st until the end of the row. Slip st into the stitch holding the stitch marker. Replace stitch marker into new st

Step 30: ch 1, (puff stitch, ch 1, puff stitch) into third stitch from slip stitch (stitch with stitch marker). Chain 1 after first puff stitch. Proceed to puff stitch again into the same stitch. Skip 2 st; puff stitch, ch 1, puff stitch into the third stitch from your last puffs. Repeat until the last stitch with your stitch marker on it. After your last (puff stitch, ch 1, puff stitch), slip stitch into that last stitch.

Step 31: ch 1, dc in each stitch until the end of the row. Slip st into the stitch holding the stitch marker. Replace stitch marker into new stitch.

Step 32: ch 1. hdc into first st, ch 1, skip following st, hdc into next st. repeat until the end of the row. Slip st into the stitch holding the stitch marker. Replace stitch marker into new st.

Step 33:  ch 1, hdc into each st until the end of the row. Slip st into the stitch holding the stitch marker.

Cut yarn, leaving a 3 in tail. Weave in ends on the inside of the cowl.
