100% Organic Hemp | Reptile & Small Pet Hammock Tutorial

Do you have a small furry or scaly pet that would adore hanging out in a 100% organic hemp hammock that you handmade for them? Look no further! You don’t need to buy an expensive pet hammock that is made out of mystery fibers or might not be the perfect fit for your tank or setup. Follow along with our tutorial to make your pets new favorite lounging spot

Materials


3.50 mm crochet hook
1 ball of DGY Single Ply Hemp Yarn
Scissors
Suction cups (optional)

Notes


Hemp is naturally mold  and mildew resistant - so if your pet needs humidity, the hammock will not mold.
The abrasive texture of the hammock is great for shedding and adding a new texture for your pet’s enrichment.

Ultra durable, strong, and 100% organic!
Easy clean up. You can rinse the hammock under warm water and leave it in the sun to dry. Hemp yarn is also machine washable. The hemp will soften after each washing.

Sizing


Mini: 4 x 4 x 2.5 inches
Small: 5 ½ x 5 ½ x 4 ½ inches
Medium: 9 x 9 x 7 ⅕ inches
Large: 11 x 11 x 9 ½ inches

Let’s Get Started!

Row 1: CO and CH 2, 2 SC into the second CH from the hook. CH 1 and turn.
Row 2: DC into the first CHs, 2 DC into the next CHs. CH 1 and turn.
Row 3: DC into the CHs, but adding 2 DC into the last CHs. CH 1 and turn
Row 4-11 : Repeat row 3
Row 12: CH 1, DC the row, but add 2 DCs into the last 2 CHs. CH 1 and turn
Row 13-30: Repeat row 12. BO*

To hang the hammock, you can either attach make some strong ropes by chaining them out of the hemp and slst them to each edge on the hammock and tie and hang it from the mesh top/sides of your pet’s cage. Or you can find hooked suction cups and use those to mount the hammock against the tank’s walls!
