November 2022 | Sustainable Crafting and Fashion Monthly Report

Written by Kate Curry

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and found some good finds on Black Friday & Cyber Monday! Here at DGY, we’re storming into the holiday season and are grinding away. Everyone is helping out in the warehouse to ensure that everyone gets their holiday goodies before the big day!

Last month, thanks to you and the rest of our amazing community, we were able to save 10,876 pounds of textiles, fiber, paper, plastic, and wood from going into landfills all around the world. To put the amount in perspective for you, here are some examples that weight that much:

  • 11 grand pianos
  • 30 reindeer, all ready to haul Santa’s sleigh!
  • 54 manhole covers
  • 2,175 gallons of ice cream

Totals for 2022

  • No. of trees planted: 7,166
  • Pounds of waste material saved:  113,091

Trees.Org x Darn Good Yarn

Every purchase from our Be Darn Good Collection, gives back to the global community. For each purchase from this collection, a tree is planted by our friends over at trees.org! For 2022 we hope to plant 30,000 trees this year all around the world to help our global siblings. With each tree planted there is hope for the future -more food, more farms, more wildlife, and more jobs!

Thanks to our community, last month we were able to plant 400 trees!! One step closer to our 2022 goal!

November’s Most Popular Yarn

The Mystery skein of yarn has finally been knocked off its pedestal! The most popular yarn for November is our: Sparkle Worsted Weight Silk Yarn in Frostbite. This gorgeous sparkling purple worsted weight silk yarn is one of our exclusive winter colorways for 2022 and it is one hot product!

Thanks to everyone who yearned for a little mystery, we were able to have 30 pounds of fiber!

Lookin’ Good & Doin’ Good!

For November, the most popular clothing item was our Seconds & Surplus Peacock Maxi Dress!

A woman with curly red hair is wearing a tan and orange maxi dress.

The Seconds & Surplus listings are for our handmade items that have tiny little imperfections, but those imperfections are loved by hundreds of people, who helped us save over 211 pounds of reclaimed and recycled materials!

Yarn Of The Month® Club

In November, our fabulous Yarn of the Month community helped us save 336 pounds of fiber thanks to their subscription!

Two artisans in India are dying yarn by hand.

With each person that subscribes, we are able to protect the employment of our incredible artisans that you can meet HERE!!. For every 1,000 subscribers, our club can support one artisan for an entire year!

Skirt Of The Month® Club
