Pattern for Crochet Doilies – La Toile Doily

MATERIALS

• 1 skein of Darn Good Yarn 100% Superwash Merino Wool Sock Yarn
• US E/4 (3.5 mm) Crochet Hook (not included)
• Scissors & Tapestry Needle (not included)

PATTERN NOTES

• Approximate Finished Dimensions: 12 in.
• Gauge: 4 in. in diameter after Round 5
• This yarn is very elastic! Make sure to hold it loosely so your tension isn't too tight
• Each beginning ch3 counts as dc throughout.
• The number and kind of stitches at the end of each round is listed in <brackets>
• Wet blocking the doily once you’ve finished is recommended.

ABBREVIATIONS

• ch = chain

• sl st = slip stitch

• sc = single crochet

• dc = double crochet

• ch-sp = chain space

• sk = skip

•  dc2tog = double crochet two stitches together

PATTERN

  Step 1: Yarn over.

  Step 2: Insert hook into the next stitch in the row.

  Step 3: Yarn over.

  Step 4: Pull the yarn through. You should now have three loops on your hook.

  Step 5: Yarn over.

  Step 6: Pull the yarn through the first two loops. You should now have two
              loops  on your hook.

  Step 7: Yarn over.

  Step 8: Insert hook into the next stitch on your row.

  Step 9: Pull the yarn through. You should now have four loops on your hook.

  Step 10: Yarn over.

  Step 11: Pull the yarn through two loops. You should now have three loops left.

  Step 12. Pull through last three loops.

Beginning ch3 counts as dc throughout.

Ch 4 and sl st to first ch to form starting loop.

Rnd 1.

 Ch2 (does not count as dc). 12 dc in loop. Sl st to top of first dc to join.

Rnd 2.

 Ch4. *dc in next st. Ch1.* Repeat around and sl st in third chain of beginning ch4 to join. (12 dc + 12 ch1-sps total)

 

Rnd 3.

 Sl st into first ch1-sp. Ch3 and dc in same ch1-sp. Dc in next st. *2dc in ch1-sp. Dc in next st.* Repeat around. Last dc is worked into the ch3 of previous round. Join to top of beginning ch3. (36 dc total)

Rnd 4.

 Ch3. Dc in next st. Ch2. Sk st. *dc in next two sts. ch2. Sk st.* Repeat around. Join to the top of beginning ch3. (12 2 dc groups + 12 ch2-sps)

                                                                             

Rnd 5.

 Ch3. Dc in next st. 3dc in ch2-sp. *dc in next two sts. 3dc in ch2-sp.* Repeat around. Join to top of beginning ch3. (60 dc total)

Rnd 6.

 Ch3. Dc in next st. Ch4. Sk next three sts. *dc in next two sts. Ch4. Sk 3 sts.* Repeat around. After last ch4, join to beginning ch3.  (12 2 dc groups + 12 ch4-sps total)

Rnd 7.

 Ch3. Dc in next st. 5dc in ch4-sp. *dc in next two sts. 5dc in ch4-sp.* Repeat around. Join to beginning ch3. (84 dc total)

Rnd 8.

 Ch3. Dc in next st. Ch1. Sk next two sts. Dc, ch2, dc in next stitch, Ch1. Sk two sts. *dc in next two sts. Ch1. Sk two sts. Dc, ch2, dc in next st. Ch1. Sk two sts.* Repeat around. Join to top of beginning ch3. (12 2 dc groups + 12 dc, ch2, dc groups) 

Rnd 9.

 Ch2 and dc in next st. (This counts as the beginning dc2tog.) Ch1. Sk ch1-sp. 3dc, ch1, 3dc in the first ch2-sp. Ch1. Sk ch1-sp. *Dc2tog over the next two sts. Ch1. Sk ch1-sp. 3dc, ch1, 3dc in ch2-sp. Ch1. Sk ch1-sp.* Repeat around. Join to the top of the first dc. (12 3dc, ch1, 3dc groups + 12 dc2togs)

Rnd 10.

 Ch3. Dc in the same st as join. Ch3. Sk ch1-sp and 3dc sts. Dc, ch2, dc in the next ch1-sp. Ch3. Sk 3dc sts and ch1-sp. *2dc in the top of the next st (dc2tog of previous row). Ch3. Sk ch1-sp and 3dc sts. Dc, ch2, dc in the next ch1-sp. Ch3. Sk 3dc sts and ch1-sp.* Repeat around. Join to the top of the beginning ch3. ( 12 2dc groups + 12 dc,ch2, dc groups)

Rnd 11.

 Ch2 and dc in  next st. Ch4. Sk ch3-sp. 3dc, ch1, 3dc in the next ch2-sp. Ch4. Sk ch3-sp. *Dc2tog over the next two sts. Ch4. Sk ch3-sp. 3dc, ch1, 3dc in ch2-sp. Ch4. Sk ch3-sp.* Repeat around. Join to the top of the first dc. (12 3dc, ch1, 3dc groups + 12 dc2togs)

Rnd 12.

Rnd 14.

 Ch1. 5sc in the ch5-sp. Sc in the next three sts. Sc, ch3, sc in the ch1-sp. Sc in the next three sts. 5sc in the ch5-sp. * Sk next st (the dc2tog of previous row). 5sc in ch5-sp. Sc in the next three sts. Sc, ch3, sc in the ch1-sp. Sc in the next three sts. 5sc in the ch5-sp.* repeat around. Join to the first sc and fasten off. Weave in ends.
