NOTES:
  • This pattern is worked in 3 pieces: the Bust, the Back, and the Body pieces. The Bust and Back pieces are worked back and forth in rows, with a turn at the beginning/ end of the row. The Body piece is worked in the round, with a slip st into the first st of the row.

  • The ch-1 does not count as a stitch. The ch-2 and ch-4 do count as stitches, as noted in the pattern.

  • The sample is size small in the photos Cotton T-Shirt Yarn in Mermaid Swirl was used.

Sizing as follows

Row 1: Create a slipknot on your hook and pull up a loop in the first st of row 9 (10, 12, 13, 15), 31 (31, 43, 43, 55), hdc into the 5th ch from the hook, (the skipped chs count as hdc + ch 1/ skipped st), *ch 1, skip the next st, hdc into the next st,* repeat from * to * 2 (2, 3, 3, 4) - 5 (5, 6, 6, 7) hdc, 4 (4, 5, 5, 6) ch-1 spaces

Note: you will be working into the ch 14 (15, 15, 16, 16) spaces as well as the hdc/ ch-1 spaces on the Bust and Back pieces for the next row.

Note: if you’d like to add more rows to your tank top and are happy with the dimensions, add more rows like Round 6 (7, 7, 8, 8). If you’d like it to get a little larger, add another increase row like Round 5 (6, 6, 7, 7).
Round 7 (8, 9, 10, 11): Ch 1, sc into the same st as join, ch 1, skip the next ch-1 space, *sc into the next st, ch 1, skip the next ch-1 space,* repeat from * to * 34 (36, 38, 40, 42) more times, slip st into the first st - 36 (38, 40, 42, 44) sc, 18 (19, 20, 21, 22) ch-1 spaces
Fasten off, weave in your ends. Be sure to attach your first strap to the back piece that’s not attached to the chain section.

Your body piece should be about 7.5” (9”, 11.5”, 13”, 14.5”) in height and about 14” (16”, 18”, 20”, 22”) in diameter when laid flat.
