Free Pattern Friday: Blue Jay Triangle Scarf

Before You Start:

This intermediate crochet pattern can be completed using any of our Herbal Dyed Recycled Silk Yarn packs. We love this pattern because it can be worn so many different ways!!! Our absolute favorite is as a triangle scarf but it looks awesome as a shawl or belt too!

Materials:

Yarn: 1 pack of DK Weight Herbal Dyed Recycled Silk Yarn
Hook Size: 4.0 mm 

Abbreviations:

ch - chain
dtr - double treble crochet
sl st- slip stitch
sc - single crochet

Project Notes:

Ch 5 = 1 Inch (Each square in the shawl should be 1” by 1”)
Gauge doesn’t really matter as long as you are consistent throughout the shawl.

Instructions (updated!):

Begin with Peach Yarn. Ch 14. Turn.
R1: DTR in 9th CH from the hook. (there should be a tail of 4 chains).
CH 9, and DTR in same 9th CH. CH 4 and Slip ST to 1st CH from beginning.

R2: CH 9, turn. DTR in 8th CH from the hook.
[CH 4, DTR in previous row’s DTR].
Ch 4, DTR in center CH of previous rows CH of 9
CH 9, DTR in same CH of previous rows CH of 9
[Ch 4, DTR in previous rows DTR.]
CH 4, DTR in center ch of previous rows beginning CH 9,
CH 4, dtr in same chain of previous rows beginning CH 9

R3-R6: Slip ST to last stitch of previous row. Follow pattern outlined in R2 and for each consecutive row add an additional repeat of each step in [brackets]. R3 will have [CH 4, DTR in previous row’s DTR] x2 on each side. R4 will have [CH 4, DTR in previous row’s DTR] x3 on each side. Etc.

R7-R11: Switch to grey yarn. Slip ST to last stitch of previous row. Continue pattern outlined in R2 and continue adding an additional repeat of each step in [brackets]. At the end of R11 fasten off.

R12-R16: Switch to blue yarn. Slip ST to last stitch of previous row. Continue pattern outlined in R2 and continue adding an additional repeat of each step in [brackets]. At the end of R16 fasten off.

R17-R19: Switch to blue-green yarn. Slip ST to last stitch of previous row. Continue pattern outlined in R2 and continue adding an additional repeat of each step in [brackets]. At the end of R19 fasten off.

R20-R22: Switch to dark blue yarn. Slip ST to last stitch of previous row. Continue pattern outlined in R2 and continue adding an additional repeat of each step in [brackets]. At the end of R22 fasten off.

Edging: Switch to grey yarn. Slip ST into any DTR and work around entire edge of shawl. There will be 4 SC in every grid square, and 1 SC in every DTR. Fasten off, weave in loose ends and enjoy!
