Blocking is option. If you choose to block, you will lose the texture of the ribbed mesh and it will become more of a lacework hat.

K2TOG: Knit 2 Together

Begin: CO 88 Sts using long tail cast on.
Place marker and be careful not to twist stitches to join in the round.
Work K1P1 ribbing for 1.75” or until desired brim height. <88 sts>

Repeat: Round 1 until hat measures 7’’ from cast on. If you desire a slouchier hat, add from this measurement.

Switch to DPNs or Magic Loop when appropriate.
Decrease Round 1: *[YO, K2Tog] X4, K2Tog* around <99 sts>
Decrease Round 2: *[YO, K2Tog] X3, YO, K3Tog* around <88 sts>
Decrease Round 3: *[YO, K2Tog] X3, K2Tog* around <77 sts>
Decrease Round 4: *[YO, K2Tog] X2, YO, K3Tog* around<66 sts>
Decrease Round 5: *[YO, K2Tog] X2, K2Tog* around <55 sts>
Decrease Round 6: *YO, K2Tog, YO, K3Tog* around <44 sts>
