Felt Balls Coaster

Step 1

Gather materials.

  • Darn Good Yarn Felt Balls (we used Goody Gumdrops!)
  • Felt, cut into circles with a 3.5” diameter (this will be the coaster “base”)
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Scissors

Step 2

Starting on the outer edge of the base, put a small dab (about the size of a pea) down. Immediately place a felt ball on top of the glue.

Step 3

Continue this process around the outer edge of the base.

Step 4

Once the outer ring of the base is lined with felt balls, begin to glue the felt balls down on the inner ring.

Step 5

Continue gluing down the felt balls until the base is completely covered.

Hemp Coaster

Step 1

Gather materials.

  • Darn Good Yarn 3 Ply Hemp
  • Felt, cut into circles with a 3.5” diameter (this will be the coaster “base”)
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Scissors

Step 2

Begin by placing a small dab of glue in the center of the coaster.

Step 3

Place the end of the hemp onto the glue. Hold this in place as you begin to create a “spiral pattern” with the hemp, adding glue to the coaster base as needed.

Step 4

Once you reach the outer edge, cut the hemp strand so it does not hang over the base.

Step 5

Continue Steps 2-4 as you line the new strands of hemp along the old ones, until you cover the whole base.

Sari Piping Coasters

Step 1

Gather materials.

  • Recycled Sari Silk Piping Cord (we used Oops I Did It Again!)
  • Felt, cut into circles with a 3.5” diameter (this will be the coaster “base”)
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Scissors

Step 2

Put a small line of glue (about ½ inch long) along the outer edge of the coaster, and place the piping cord flat on top of the glue.

Step 3

Continue this process until you have covered the outside edge of the base.

Step 4

Place a strip of glue horizontally at the top of the base (where you completed the piping from the outer edge), from one side of the border to the other. Press the piping cord flat.

Step 5

Put more glue below that horizontal strip, and continue to lay the piping cord down. Continue this “zig zag” process, until you have covered the whole base.

Step 6

Repeat step 2, on top of the cording you already had on the outer edge. (This will help give the coaster a cleaner look!)
