Hey everybody I'm Julia from Darn Good Yarn and today I'm going to be teaching you the netted stitch. So this is a really nice loose stitch that a lot of people will use to make mesh bags or maybe like a reusable produce bag or something like that. So it's a pretty easy stitch to know and it's just a repeat of one row so I'll go through that one row with you.
So you want to make sure you have an odd number of stitches cast it on, so I have 15 but any odd number will do. So for the first stitch you just want to knit one and then you're going to yarn over as if to knit. So just yarn over like that and then you're going to knit two together since we are knitting two together, and the stitches on the needles can get pretty tight so make sure you're doing a loose knit. So then again we're just going to repeat the yarn over and then knit two together. Yarn over, knit two together, and you are going to keep doing that all the way down the row till you get to the last two. You can see for me doing this they get pretty tight in there so one more yarn over knit two together and then you have two left and then you're just going to knit those.
So here is the netted stitch, so again you're just going to continue that pattern all the way each row and I'll continue in this nice loose mesh pattern and I'll have the detailed instructions in the description below.
BEFORE YOU GET STARTED
The netted stitch is a great beginner stitch. It is pretty loose, great for projects such as a mesh produce bag, or a beach bag.
WRITTEN PATTERN
CO odd number of stitches
Row 1: K1, * knit 2 together and YO*. K2.
Repeat row 1 until you reach the desired length.
Since you are knitting two stitches together, it can get a bit tight on your needle, so knit a bit looser than you normally would.
