You'll feel warmer by just looking at the work of Sheri Berent of @made_in_stitches. This Canadian Artisan first learned to knit from her Gramma, when she was 9.
She designed a Spring Infinity Cowl with our Banana Fiber Yarn; perfect for all the ups and downs that spring weather brings! Read more about Sheri, and to get your Spring Infinity Cowl project kit.
When i was 9years old my Gramma taught me to knit. My first project was a pair of mittens. About a year later i really wanted to learn to crochet and so Gramma taught me to make a granny square. Next project i made and wore was a Grannysquare Vest designed by my Gramma.
My favourite knitting/crochet memory is being with my Gramma. She was my hero in my life. Every time i pick up my needles or a crochet hook i smile because i can still hear all the giggles we shared over the years.
My sister encouraged me to start with an Instagram account. She felt it would be an outlet for me since I’m a 24 hour caregiver to our son. She encouraged me to put creativeness to use. So i took a leap of faith and here i am.
I’d have to say my biggest challenge has been a battle of confidence. I’m naturally a private, quiet person and so to ‘sell myself’ has been so challenging. I find myself shying away from any spotlight. Even to do this collaboration has in itself been challenging for that reason.
Always always be ready to learn and challenge yourself. The rewards far outweigh the challenges. It’s so liberating!
I want to continue on the road of design. My brain never shuts off designing. Even though I’ve always KNOWN i have a creative mind i never BELIEVED that i could create my own designs. I honestly felt i wasn’t good enough and that only my Gramma was blessed with that gene. I completed my very first design this year and it BLEW my mind! I feel my boundaries are limitless and i have a whole new outlook.
