Ombre Pumpkin Amigurumi | Spooky Halloween Crochet Craft

Are you looking to decorate your home with adorable little pumpkins, but you don’t want rotting veggies calling out to every wild animal to come dine on your porch? I have the perfect, simple pumpkin crochet amigurumi to make out of our ombre recycled silk yarn. 

Materials 


2.0 mm crochet hook
95 yards of Ombre Recycled Silk Yarn in Orange
20 yards of Ombre Recycled Silk Yarn in Green
Stuffing
Stitch markers (optional- I use mine to keep track of my rounds)

Sizing & Notes


Height: 3 inches
Width Around: 11 ½ inches
Colors: You do not have to stick with orange! We have tons of other ombre colored yarn that would make gorgeous spooky pumpkins!

Let's Get Started!

The Body

Create a magic ring and CH 1 


Round 1: Create 10 DC into the MR (10)
Round 2: 2 DC in each ST (20) 
Round 3: 2 DC in first ST, 1 DC in next STS & repeat (30)
Round 4: 2 DC in first ST, 1 DC in next 2 STS & repeat (40)
Round 5: 2 DC in first ST, 1 DC in next 3 STS & repeat (51)
Round 6: 2 DC in first ST, 1 DC in next 4 STS & repeat (62)
Round 7: 2 DC in first ST, 1 DC in next 5 STS & repeat (73)
Round 8: 2 DC in first ST, 1 DC in next 6 STS & repeat (84)
Round 9-16: DC the whole round (84)
Round 17: DC in next 6 ST, DC2TOG, & repeat around (73) 
Round 18: DC in next 5 ST, DC2TOG, & repeat around (62) 
Round 19: DC in next 4 ST, DC2TOG, & repeat around (51) 
Round 20:  DC in next 3 ST, DC2TOG, & repeat around (40) 

Stuff the majority of the pumpkin before the hole gets too small 

Round 21: DC in next 2 ST, DC2TOG, & repeat around (30)
Round 22: DC in next ST, DC2TOG, & repeat around (20)
Round 23: DC 2 tog around and BO. (10) Cut a long tail of yarn and using your darning needle, wrap the yarn around your pumpkin and pull tight, sewing the tail into the top closure after each section. Pull these sections tight to create the iconic pumpkin shape. Stuff your pumpkin more to make the sections puff out.
Round 24:  After the sections are made, drawstring sew the top closure and pull tight to close the opening and knot.

The Stem

Create a magic ring and CH 1 


Round 1: Create 6 DC into the MR (6)
Round 2: DC in each ST (6)
Round 3: 2 DC in each ST (12)
Round 4-5: DC each ST (12) 
Round 6: BO and leave a long tail for sewing. Using your darning needle, sew your stem to the top of your pumpkin.
