Snake Amigurumi Tutorial - No Sew Easy Amigurumi

Written by Kate Curry

As a proud snake parent, my only regret is that I wish I could cuddle my little friend more without stressing him out or getting bitten too much. The woes of loving reptiles, am I right? So I whipped up this snake stuffie for any other snake parents that need a little more snuggles!

Materials

5.00 mm crochet hook
1 cake of Darn Good Yarn Worsted Weight Silk Yarn - I used watercolors to create The Rainbow Serpent

Abbreviations

CH(s): Chain(s)
MR: Magic ring
ESC: Extended single crochets
INC: Increase (meaning you’re putting at least 2 SC into the chain
DEC: Decrease (you’re going to be combining 2 CH together)

Let’s Get Started!

Round 1: Create a magic ring and create 6 ESC into the magic ring. Using the tail of the MR, tighten to create a perfect circle out of those 6 ESC.
Round 2: INC with 2 ESC in each CH. (12)
Round 3: ESC, INC with 2 ESC in the same CH, and repeat 3 times (9)
Round 4: 2 ESC, INC, and repeat 3 times (12)
Round 5: 5 ESC, INC, and repeat 2 times (14)
Round 6: 6 ESC, INC and repeat 2 times (16)
Round 7-9: ESC the whole round
Round 10: 7 ESC, INC, and repeat 2 times (18)
Round 11:  8 ESC, INC, and repeat 2 times  (20)
Round 12: 9 ESC, INC, and repeat 2 times (22)
Round 13: 4 ESC, DEC, and repeat 3 times. 2 ESC and DEC (18)
Round 14:  7 ESC, DEC, and repeat 2 times  (16)
Round 15:  6 ESC, DEC, and repeat 2 times (14)
Round 16: 5 ESC, DEC, and repeat 2 times (12)
On a wooden table, a hand holds the 'head' of the amigurumi snake made out of rainbow worsted weight yarn in watercolors.

*Stuff the head and add in the eyes if you are using eye buttons

Round 17-88: ESC the whole round (12)

As you're working down the body of the snake, stuff as you go. Don't over-stuff if you want your snake to be nice and wiggly!

Round 89: 2 DC, DEC, and repeat 3 times (9)
Round 90: ESC the whole round (9)
Round 91: 1 ESC, DEC, and repeat 3 times (6)
Round 92: ESC the whole round (6)
Round 93: 3 DEC and pull tight. Weave in your ends

Or you can keep the original tail sticking out to look like a little snake tongue!
