KNIT: $12 Easy Wool Scarf
October 4, 2009
I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to put this easy scarf up on the site. You will giggle because it’s so simple.
First you need 2 skeins of Darn Good Yarn’s Thick and Thin Wool Yarn (which I call the yo-yo diet). You’re going to use up both skeins in their entirety for this scarf but you will get an ample scarf that goes together quick!
The second thing you need are US size 13 needles.

Too much fun:)
Now, cast on 9 or 11 stitches. You can choose depending on the width of the scarf you’d like. Me, well I like a longer scarf so I can wrap it more or tie it around my head then around my neck if it’s super chilly.
Ok, so you’re then going to knit 1 and purl 1 to the end for every row (yes seed stitch…can you tell I’m addicted to it?) It’s great if you’re just learning because you can practice practice practice!
I love this yarn because while the stitch is easy and you can zone out you end up with a very interesting texture. It reminds me of pebbles.
What a great, cost-effective, beautiful gift you can make in a snap this holiday season!

Are you also saying that one can keep going where the lenght is concerned? Inother words make it as long as one would like?
Yes some people like to wrap the scarf around them quite a few times where others don’t
I meant to call it seed stitch. my bad! Have fun with the free pattern!
Nicole: I agree with you about the seed stitch. I have made several scarves, started out in a different pattern and wind up ripping it out and doing the seed stitch. It is my favorite also.
With a thick and thin yarn, it works up and looks like little pebbles to me. I really like the effect. I seem to get all zenned out when I k1,p1
Hi,
Your yarn is beautiful and with variety and good prices. However, I am frustrated because I spent one day getting on allfreeknitting.com and went through the questions about my insurance, and shopping preferences. But I never was able to download the free knitting patterns promised.
Several days later I get email from allfreeknitting with more promises for free knitting patterns, and again, I am offered yarns to buy but no patterns in sight.
Whats happening? Do I not qualify? or is this just a shopping site with no patterns available?
I am not on facebook because I had a bad experience when I first tried. Perhaps that is the problem. The members find the free knitting patterns on Facebook.
If you have any comments or suggestions for me, I would be very grateful. Otherwise, I will chalk it up to promises, promises and move on.
Thanks, Sarah Moses
On the second row, do you k1, p1 across or do you start the row p1,k1? The last seed pattern I did, I k1,p1 on every row but on other sites say that you k1, p1 on one row then the next row start the row p1, k1. I tried doing it the last stitch pattern and it didn’t look like my last seed stitch pattern where I k1, p1 every row..always starting with a k1 and ending with a k1..please help me on this one..thanks
If you have cast on an even number of stitches, you would:
Row 1 and odd rows:
k1, p1 … across
Row 2 and even rows:
p1, k1 … across
If you have cast on an ODD number of rows, as with this pattern, every row is
Hope this helps.
k1, p1 … across
Where can I buy this yarn?
I live in Detroit, Mi
How can I purchase the thick & thin wool yarn as shown? Can’t get to it on your site. Thanx. BC
