Materials Needed

Yarn: 1 Skein of Darn Good Twist Sport Weight Silk Yarn

Hooks: D Hook (or any size, depending on how large you want your bow)

Notions: Yarn Needle, Hair Tie/Elastic

Abbreviations

Double Slip Stitch: Insert hook in single crochet just made, yarn over, draw up a loop; insert hook in next single crochet yarn over and draw up a loop, bring loop through both loops on hook.

Front Post Double Crochet: Yarn over, insert hook from front to back and then to front again around the post of previous double crochet in the row below. Yarn over, draw up a loop, and finish as a double crochet.

Back Post Double Crochet: Yarn over, insert hook from back to front and then back again around post of previous row, yarn over, draw up a loop, and complete as a double crochet.

Pattern Instructions

To Start:

Chain 27 For the 1st bow sleeve:

SC in each chain across. Chain 1. Turn (26sc.)

SC in each single crochet across. Chain 1. Turn. (26sc.) Double slip stitch across to last single crochet. Single crochet in last single crochet. Chain 1. Turn.

SC across in back loops only. Chain 2. Turn.

Double Crochet across. Chain 2. Turn.

Front Post Double Crochet across. Chain 1. Turn.

SC across. Chain 1 Turn.

SC across. Chain 1. Turn.

To set up the Midsection:

Double slip stitch across. Chain 1. Turn.

Single crochet back loops only, Chain 1. Turn.

SC across. Chain 1. Turn. (Repeat 3 times)

Double slip stitch across. Chain 1. Turn.

For the 2nd bow sleeve:

SC across. Chain 1. Turn.

SC across. Chain 2. Turn.

Double crochet across. Chain 2. Turn.

Back Post Double Crochet. Chain 1. Turn.

SC across. Chain 1. Turn. Double Slip Stitch across. Chain 1. Turn.

SC across in back loops only. Chain 1. Turn.

SC across. Chain 1. Turn.

SC across. Chain 1. Turn.

Edging:

SC across. 2 SC in last SC. Keep the right side facing and single crochet all along the rectangle to give it a nice crisp edging.

2 SC in all corners. Fasten off after edging.

Fold the rectangle in half horizontally where your foundation chain meets your last row. Sew together.

Sew the two edges of the sleeves closed.

To Finish:

Option 1: Fold into bow shape and wrap yarn around the flat midsection of the bow that’s between the two Double Slip Stitch rows. Tie off and tuck the knots and loose string.
