Hi everyone, I’m Kallie! I grew up in a small town in New Hampshire and ever since learning how to knit and crochet at the age of 8, I haven’t stopped. My love of fiber arts led me to apply for a marketing position here at Darn Good Yarn, and the rest is history! Along with my crafting knowledge I posses a B.A. in communications from the University of New Hampshire. I also work as a professional Actor in Boston!
1. What about the mission of Darn Good Yarn hits home for you and why?
Working in a retail setting opened my eyes to the supply chain and how little many of the workers overseas were getting paid for their work. I made a vow to try to consume ethically sourced and produced goods, so Darn Good Yarn directly aligns with how I want to be as a consumer. I am passionate about Women’s rights and fair wages, as well as environmental issues and Darn Good Yarn’s mission encompasses all of those!
2. What kind of crafting are you into? How did you learn? ("Crafting" in the broad sense, anything you make or do that's creative or fun)
I LOVE ALL CRAFTING. I love using my hands and creating. I come from a very crafty family so I have been doing it since I was young. I love to experiment with textures and freehand knit and crochet. I value how therapeutic crafting has been for me and think everyone should find one crafting hobby to get their creative juices flowing!
3. What's your favorite Darn Good Yarn product and why?
Oh my, how can I pick just one?!! My favorite clothing item would have to be the Medley Sari because it’s so versatile! And my favorite yarn (at the moment) are the recycled silk yarns, they are so soft and easy to work with!
