The Barlow Guildhouse

August 5, 2010

I feel so lucky that Amy over at the Barlow Guildhouse found Darn Good Yarn.

They have been carrying our yarns for over a year now and they carry our great recycled silks and banana fiber yarns.

The Barlow Guildhouse is located on the grounds of Barlow Respiratory Hospital, next door to Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles

The Guildhouse is a hospital gift shop with a difference.  They carry beautiful items from all over the world.

Being staffed solely by volunteers allows them to keep their prices low.  All proceeds directly benefit Barlow Respiratory Hospital patients.

You can keep up with the latest Barlow Guildhouse news and events by joining their Facebook page. Follow them on Facebook by clicking here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Los-Angeles-CA/Barlow-Guildhouse/331965215202?ref=ts

Use that Recycled Silk Sari Ribbon!

July 12, 2010

I love giving presents and I really love wrapping them. When I was little, I remember sitting with my mom before Christmas and meticulously wrapping presents and creasing the edges. As I grew up, my wrapping style changed a little and I got a little more artsy and starting “coloring outside of the lines”.

Darn Good Yarn on Sirius

March 11, 2010

Yes, you read it right! Check this out. Mike and I went skiing a couple of weeks ago!Nicole the owner at Mammoth Mtn
But on the ride out, holy moly was I bored. And get this, I remembered my yarn but I forgot my whole bag of knitting needles. I was trying to figure out how the heck I was going to survive …well…forever in the car. Well I was listening to Madison on Sirius’s Alt Nation. Very uncharacteristically, I emailed her asking if she would play “How You Like Me Now” from the Heavy.

See catchy?! Well, she didn’t play it then. But on the drive back home not only did Madison at Sirius play the song, she read my email and gave props to Darn Good Yarn! Holy Moly! We’re famous! Yes, I did send Madison some yarn-- she got it and loved it! You will too. She got the recycled silk sari yarn and my new recipe of banana fiber to be exact. Check them out!
